Welcome to Hyderabad! The Host City of the APAC Connect 2026

The History

With settlements in the area dating back to the Iron Age, Hyderabad is steeped in traditions. As the capital city of the state of Telangana, it has grown to reflect a vast diversity of cultural influences throughout its vivid history.

Ruled by the Nizams for over 200 years, Hyderabad was built with largely Islamic influences, but also incorporates styles from Hindu and Persian architecture.

At the heart of Hyderabad is Charminar, a site of spiritual and archaeological significance. It is a hub for religious festivals – catering to tourists and locals alike – and is such an important part of the city’s history that it features on currency and state iconography.

Often called the ‘City of Pearls’ thanks to its luxury goods trade and fine jewellery production, Hyderabad is also known for its artisanal craft. You can still explore bustling markets in the Old Town, where famous bazaars and bridal stores are tucked between historic monuments and modern amenities.

The Tourism

Hyderabad blends tradition with modernity, offering history, architecture, spirituality, entertainment and culinary delights.

Shilparamam

A must-see during your time at the APAC Connect 2026 is the village of Shilparamam in Hyderabad’s HITEC City area. Shilparamam showcases traditional Indian handicrafts and folk performances. You can shop for authentic regional crafts, enjoy cultural shows, explore the rural museum, or simply stroll through its beautifully landscaped surroundings. It’s a perfect spot to experience India’s artistic heritage.

The Connect venue is located in HITEC City, which is some distance from the centre of Hyderabad and most of the tourist destinations and cultural landmarks. However, if you’re able to set aside a day or two around the Connect, we highly recommend taking one of the following tours.

Tour 1: Essential Sights

Charminar

Over four centuries old, this exquisite example of Indo-Islamic architecture in the Old City blends influences from across India’s rich history. During the day, you can climb the 149 steps and see the city from inside its minarets and upper galleries. At night, you’ll see Charminar illuminated against the city skyline.

A majestic testament to Hyderabad’s history, it is known for its ingenious acoustic design and its panoramic hilltop views. Visitors can enjoy an evening sound-and-light show that narrates the legends surrounding the fortress.
